Day 11: KAMLOOPS

Day 11

The final day of the ADVG 4130 field school provided eager students with an optional additional trail layout educational element.  For some, the morning consisted of an 8km trail layout hike; while for others it consisted of resting and catching up on some much needed sleep.

In the mid afternoon, we all met up at the Adventure Gear Bay on the TRU Kamloops campus before setting out for an incredible bike ride through Kenna Cartwright Park. The ride consisted of green, blue, and black trails, and allowed each of us to challenge and push ourselves past limits we didn’t know we could surpass. Thankfully we all came out of it alive with nothing but muddy clothes and smiles on our faces (…and maybe a few scrapes…).

Riding through Kenna made us all realize how much the course had truly affected us. After spending a few days dedicating our time to trail layout and trail building, it made us all truly appreciate trails a whole lot more. When you realize and understand how much hard work and effort goes into the creation and maintenance f trails, it really makes you look at it in a totally different light.

After our ride, we headed back to the Gear Bay to store the bikes and finish up our last minute cleaning to end the course.
After course completion some of us and moseyed on over to the Noble Pig for some eats and good company. All in all, I think that it is safe to say that each and every one of us had an absolutely incredible experience, for which we are so grateful. Stay tuned for the ADVG 4130 class of 2017 reunion next year!!!
