Day 5: ESKIT TINY HOMES PROJECT

Esket Tiny House

Day 5

We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in a beautiful tiny home in the Esk’et community near Alkali Lake in British Columbia. The home was absolutely stunning and the attention to detail that was paid to its design process was absolutely unreal.

.

The best part of our stay however, was surprisingly not the house itself, but rather that people that we met and the experiences they shared with us. On the night of May 5th, we were given the opportunity to meet the owners of the home: Robert and Bettina, as well as two amazing locals from the Esk’et community: David and Lucy. We spent the night sharing and listening to stories and traditional drumming.

It was such an enlightening experience that allowed each of us to walk away both inspired and more educated than we had been prior to our arrival.

After leaving Alkali Lake, we detoured back through Williams Lake to make a quick pit stop at Red Shreds Bike & Board Shed. During our pit stop at Red Shreds, we were informed that Rocky Mountain Bicycles had a demo tent in town!

We were able to try out some crazy sweet bikes for free. Needless to say, the stoke levels were incredibly high.  After the super friendly Rocky Mountain reps selected the appropriate bikes for each of us, we made our way to the trailhead of the Bearacouga trail, which was of a blue difficulty rating.

The trail was absolutely beautiful, so it proved to be a pretty darn successful day. After an hour and a bit of riding, we made our way back to the Rocky Mountain tent to sadly return our bikes and end our first mountain biking experience.

We then headed to our final destination: Dunn Lake. On our way, we had the opportunity to ride on a small ferry out of Little Fort BC, which only took us maybe three minutes to get across to the other side. Once we arrived to the other side of the water, we drove to our camp area and set up what would be our home for the next week.
